Just make sure it's not filler. Try to keep everything essential to rather the plot or character development and you're golden.

I dunno, read other people's pieces and you'll see how they do it.

Like, if you're going to hijack a truck, you should easily fill up a page just describing your character planning and setting up the ambush.

Just make an interesting story, flesh out the personalities of every character in the piece, describe everything which happens with a moderate amount of detail... and following that simple formula, I can easily make a piece at least 2000 characters.

That's just a rough estimate from my experience, though.

A 2000-3000 character piece is plenty enough to earn 35k (the money cap on how much you can earn per piece), assuming your piece is of at least moderate quality

yeah, my only problem seems to be stretching my ideas out

I generally go for quality, not quantity. The mods will follow a similar approach. They don't wanna be bored as hell by a badly written 3,000 word piece.. when a very well written 600 word piece can be thrice as refreshing.
